Our Commitment to Safeguarding

At Ludlow Junior School, the safety, wellbeing and happiness of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a caring, inclusive and supportive environment where children feel safe and valued.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. All staff receive regular training to help them recognise concerns and respond appropriately, and we work closely with families and external agencies to ensure children receive the support they need. If we are worried about a child's safety or wellbeing, we will always take action in their best interests.

If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child, please speak to a member of our safeguarding team straight away. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are trained to provide advice, support and guidance, and to ensure that children receive the help and protection they need.

Curriculum

Our safeguarding curriculum plays a vital role in helping pupils develop the knowledge, understanding and confidence they need to stay safe and healthy. It is carefully planned in line with the principles and expectations set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026 and Working Together to Safeguard Children, ensuring that safeguarding remains at the heart of school life. This reflects our wider commitment to preventative education and a whole-school approach to keeping children safe.

 

Through age-appropriate learning across the curriculum, pupils are taught about:
  • Recognising signs of harm, abuse, neglect and exploitation
  • Understanding risk and making informed, positive choices
  • Personal safety, including online safety
  • Healthy, respectful and trusting relationships
  • Consent, boundaries and respect for others
  • Emotional wellbeing, self-awareness and self-regulation
  • Knowing when, how and who to talk to if they are worried or need support

 

Our curriculum is regularly reviewed and adapted to reflect emerging safeguarding risks, local concerns and the changing experiences of children. This ensures that learning remains relevant and responsive and equips pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the challenges they may encounter in school, online and within the wider community. We want every child to leave Ludlow knowing how to protect themselves, support others and seek help confidently when they need it.
